A shining example of cross-cultural cooperation
The Stellenbosch's e'Bosch Heritage Project NPO, now in its 10th year of existence, is the most unique movement of its kind in the country and possibly in the world. It proactively advocates cross-cultural cooperation by engaging all the communities in the historical university town Stellenbosch in its effort to create a common culture and a united future legacy for the area.
The movement’s vision is to establish a culture of voluntary participation in enjoyable opportunities through which communities can get to know each other, appreciate and respect one another and thereby pave the way to share common goals. This is achieved by encouraging cultural events in all neighbourhoods (named dorpies for this purpose), stimulating debate, participation in sporting activities, environmental and local history projects, as well as the arts and crafts.
So far all the population groups in the greater Stellenbosch district have participated representing neighbourhoods or dorpies such as Cloetesville, Devon Valley, Ida’s Valley, Jamestown, Kayamandi, Klapmuts, Kylemore, Lanquedoc, Pniël, Raithby, Vlottenburg, Wemmershoek, Stellenbosch Central and the farm communities.
The e'Bosch Heritage Project is a South African registered non-profit company (Reg No 2015/047995/08 ), a registered non-profit organization (Reg No 150-564) and exempted from tax as a public benefit organization (PBO No 930052999).
