Monument of Intent • Monument van Voorneme

This is an ongoing project started in 2011 and expected to be completed in 2016/2017 The location of the monument is still to be determined. It is forseen that it is a growing monument - each year a new part is added - and a distributed monument in that a part of it is constructed in each of the ten dorpies of Stellenbosch. The final outcome will depend on the consensus reached by all participating stakeholders.

The monument of intent is to symbolise the future heritage of Stellenbosch say 20 years into the future. The monument is intended to remind every citizen of and visitor to Stellenbosch of the future that we collectively desire and the values and behaviour that underpins the desired heritage of the future. The outcome of the project will be a congruent view by all participating stakeholders of the desired future of Stellenbosch and the constant reminder of what it is and how to get there.
