e’Bosch Heritage Festival celebrated for 9th consecutive year this September
The annual e’Bosch Heritage Festival comes to town once again this September with a full program of more than 30 events stretching over two months. Stellenbosch and its dorpies will host activities that range from sports to arts and crafts to celebrate this festival for the 9th consecutive year.
The program kicks off with the official launch on 27 August hosted by Mayor Gesie van Deventer, Executive Mayor of Stellenbosch Municipality where a number of Stellenbosch residents will also receive the e’Bosch Heritage Awards for outstanding contributions to the promotion of culture and heritage conservation in the district.
A number of flagship events not to be missed are the Evening Historic Stroll on 5 September, the Pentanque Competition at Pniël on 7 September, the School Choir Festival for primary and secondary schools on 13 and 14 September at the Coetzenburg Centre, the Cloetesville Heritage Festival on 21 September and the Under-11 Soccer Tournament to be held at the Kayamandi Stadium on 21 and 22 September.
Heritage Day, 24 September will of course see just about every dorpie in the Stellenbosch district celebrating their heritage in their own special way. The program concludes on 23 October with the Moore Stephens Night Run through the streets of Stellenbosch which this year is expected to attract some 2000 participants.
The e’Bosch Heritage Project stands for respecting human dignity, eliminating social injustices and forging social inclusion for all. It is one of the most unique projects of its kind in the country in that it proactively engages all population, cultural and religious groups in all of its projects, using vehicles in the arena of debate, education, sport, nature, the arts and crafts.
